We are pleased to announce that AKT has named four new partners, Michelle Barnett, Anchorage, Kyle Kamerlander, Grant Moore and Carl Pinkard all of San Diego.
Michelle Barnett has worked in the public utility industry for the past 23 years, focusing primarily on accounting, rate and regulatory matters and tariff administration. As a Certified Rate of Return Analyst, she has researched rate making theory, precedential decisions, prepared cost of equity and overall rate of return calculations and provided supporting expert testimony specific to appropriate rate of return levels for utilities. Barnett has extensive knowledge, experience and understanding of the electric, telephone, solid waste, and water and wastewater industries.She is a member of the Society of Utility and Regulatory Financial Analysts. Barnett joined AKT in the Anchorage office in 2008 after many years as a utility consultant with Honchen & Uhlenkott.
Kyle Kamerlander, CPA joined AKT's San Diego office in 2007 after working for a big four accounting firm in Chicago. He is focused on providing assurance services including audits, reviews and compilation as well as tax and business consulting services for closely held businesses in the construction, manufacturing and distribution, retail, and other entrepreneurial type industries. Kamerlander is a member of the Association of Independent Certified Public Accountants, California Society of Certified Public Accountants and is a frequent speaker at local industry association conferences.
Grant Moore has 18 years of experience working with employee benefit plans assisting start-up companies to well-established organizations. His expertise includes in-depth due diligence on fully-insured and self-insured programs to evaluate historic cost results, price competitiveness, spread of risk and population health risk. Moore also leads the Growth Services group in San Diego which includes staff from multiple service areas. He is an active participant in the industry having held various leadership positions, including President, at the local and state levels of the National Association of Health Underwriters. He is a licensed Life and Health Consultant and has served on the Boys and Girls Clubs Young Executive Board.
Carl Pinkard is Certified Financial Planner who joined AKT seven years ago in the firm's wealth management group. Carl leads AKT Private Wealth Management in San Diego helping high net worth individuals with their financial planning, investment management and tax needs. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association and the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA). He currently sits on the board of North County Health Services, a community health clinic in San Diego. AKT Wealth Advisors is a fee only Registered Investment Advisory firm with assets under management of $600 million.
